Exhibitions

The exhibition devoted to the excavation and conservation of the materials from the Underground Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto, assembled during the German occupation by a group headed by historian and social activist Emanuel Ringelblum and named the Ringelblum Archive after him, consists of two display cases with titles: ‘…Beneath the Ruins Lies a National Treasure’ and ‘Preserving the Archive for Future Generations’. 

The exhibited documents, excerpts from speeches, and photos tell the story of how a handful of Survivors searched for the Archive after the war. They also shed light on their struggles to protect the materials dug out from under the rubble. The search for the documents and subsequent efforts to decipher them, properly preserve them, and make them available to wider audiences are all parts of the Archive’s history and constitute the fulfilment of its creators’ last will. The exhibition accompanied the academic session marking the 80th anniversary of the discovery of the Ringelblum Archive, which was held on 17 September 2026 at the Jewish Historical Institute. The exhibition will remain on display until 30 November 2026.
