The 21st International Summer Seminar in Yiddish Language and Culture

How to spend a summer with Yiddish? Become a participant in a unique course in the Yiddishland center!

The Shalom Foundation and the Center for Yiddish Culture invite all Yiddish lovers to a three-week in class and virtual meeting with Yiddish language and with Jewish history, literature, culture and art, which will take place both in person and online on June 26 - July 14, 2023. Classes will be held both in-class and online.

This year's main theme is PHYSICAL CULTURE.

The program will include:
• language courses on four levels
• lectures on the Yiddish language and culture
• workshops
• tutorials and other activities

In class or from the privacy of your own home, but surrounded by participants from all over the world and under the watchful eye of the best specialists, we will once again delve into the extraordinary world of history and tradition related to the language and culture of Ashkenazi Jews.

Our teachers: Natalia Krynicka, Reyze Turner, Janina Wurbs, Ethel Niborski, Magdalena Kozłowska, Karo Wegner, Philip Schwartz.

• Yiddish classes on 4 levels:

– Yiddish 1 – Karo Wegner & Ethel Niborski (in class) – 10AM – 1:30 PM (Warsaw time, with a break)

– Yiddish 1 – Aleksandra Gluba-Pieprz & Anna Szyba online – minimum 7 participants required – 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM (Warsaw time, with a break)

– Yiddish 2 – Magdalena Kozłowska & Reyze Turner (in class) – 10AM – 1:30 PM (Warsaw time, with a break)

– Yiddish 3 – Natalia Krynicka & Janina Wurbs (online) – 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM (Warsaw time, with a break)

– Yiddish 4 – Natalia Krynicka & Philip Schwartz (online) – 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM (Warsaw time, with a break)

• Conversation (3 meetings) online – LANGUAGE WORKOUT with Karolina Szymaniak
