On September 26, just a few days after the 79th anniversary of the discovery of the first part of the Ringelblum Archive, an insightful event took place at the Imperial War Museum in London. A selection of items on loan from the Jewish Historical Institute (JHI), including the Oneg Shabbat archive box, is currently on display in the IWM’s Holocaust Galleries.

The event was introduced by Caro Howell MBE, Director General of IWM, and featured speakers including Dr. Michał Trębacz, Director of the JHI; Dr. Eleonora Bergman, former Director of the JHI; and Dr. James Bulgin, Head of Public History at the IWM and lead curator of the Holocaust Galleries.

The discussion focused on the complex stories associated with the Ringelblum Archive, as well as questions surrounding its significance in the broader context of Holocaust memory and commemoration.
