The boundaries of the Warsaw Ghetto are virtually invisible nowadays. Thanks to the efforts of the staff of the Jewish Historical Institute, in 2008, 21 monuments defining the boundaries were placed and cast iron plates illustrating where the former walls stood were built into the pavements. One of the most important boundary point, commemorated with a monument on the corner of Andersa and Świętojerska Streets, is the place where once stood the gate to the ghetto. In our film, which is also an invitation to the March of Remembrance, about the gate talks Mr Jan Jagielski.

"They want to bury us alive". The closing of the Warsaw Ghetto
16 November 1940 was a decisive day for the Jews of Warsaw. The community of 400,000 was closed in the prison walls of the ghetto, which – as Ludwik Hering wrote in one of his short stories – cut the people off everything which could make living possible. The documents from the Ringelblum Archive are the main source of information about the feelings of the people in the ghetto, their comments on closing the walls, their fears and hopes.

April 19, 1943. Warsaw Ghetto Uprising through the eyes of survivors
78 years ago, around five in the morning, the Germans entered the Warsaw ghetto along Nalewki Street and from the intersection of Gęsia and Zamenhofa. The insurgents' shots surprised them. Although the most severe fights lasted only for a few days, the resistance of the ghetto inhabitants continued for a month. Unable to break it, the Germans decided to burn down all the buildings in the "closed district".

76th Anniversary of the destruction of the Great Synagogue of Warsaw
On 16th May, 1943 not only the most impressive synagogue in Warsaw but also the entire Jewish district ceased to exist. The demolition of the synagogue was a symbolic act of the triumph over the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, which had been ongoing since 19th April 1943.
