Meetings of academics dedicated to studying the history of the Jews are part of the tradition of the Jewish Historical Institute. At present, they take on more interdisciplinary character: they are an occasion to present the latest and most long-lasting achievements of Polish researchers studying the history, culture and religion of the Jews. The meetings are participated by eminent scholars as well as promising young academics, PhD students, finalists and winners of the Majer Bałaban Contest.
The Seminars outline various topics, present different methods and combine many fields of knowledge. At the Jewish Historical Institute one can look at the past and present of Jews through the eyes of sociologists and specialists in religious studies, philosophers and psychologists, anthropologists and ethnographers, literary scholars and political scientists.
