We are remembering the departed Halina Paszkowska-Turska, participant of the Warsaw Uprising, after the war a highly regarded sound operator, decorated with the Gold Cross of Merit, the Knight’s Cross of Polonia Restituta and the Cross of the Warsaw Uprising. In 2010 she received the Polish Filmmakers’ Association Lifetime Achievements Award. She was the wife of Marian Turski.
She was responsible for sound in more than 200 documentary and 20 feature films. She worked with the best Polish directors — Andrzej Munk, Roman Polański, Marcel Łoziński. The latter recalls “Halina would always impress me with her mastery, warmth towards protagonists which was so helpful when we were shooting, as well as a creative attitude towards every film.”
Until her last days she has been open to the world and to people. Not even a month ago she participated in a meeting at our Institute about Bolesław Leśmian.
May her soul be bound up in the bond of life!
