Founders of the Józef Reinfeld Memorial Voluntary Group Ordering the Jewish Cemetery in Warsaw — Alicja Mroczkowska and Jacek Dehnel, as well as Tadeusz Kuźminski, founder of the Foundation Biłgoraj XXI were presented Hirszowicz Awards for the year 2014.

For many years, at the Jewish Historical Institute Maria and Łukasz Hirszowicz Awards had been presented.

In 2001, Maria Hirszowicz, a Professor of Sociology, in exile in Great Britain funded the Award given for activity and work devoted to the Jewish subject matter in Poland. The prize was to be named after her late husband, Łukasz Hirszowicz. Maria Hirszowicz entrusted the then Director of the JHI Professor Feliks Tych with the Prize Fund which is "heired” by subsequent Directors of the JHI and presented yearly.

This year the jury presided by Professor Barbara Engelking decided to present the award to founders of the Józef Reinfeld Memorial Voluntary Group Ordering the Jewish Cemetery in Warsaw — Alicja Mroczkowska and Jacek Dehnel, as well as to Tadeusz Kuźminski, founder of the Foundation Biłgoraj XXI.

The first were honored for their pro bono work in the Jewish Cemetery and the latter for his engagement in bringing back the memory of multicultural history of Biłgoraj.
