One of the most famous ‘objects’ in the JHI’s collection is the Warsaw Ghetto Underground Archive, known as the Ringelblum Archive, listed on the Memory of the World Register by UNESCO.
We try to present this unique collection of documents to as wide an audience as possible. The exhibitions organized by the JHI help introduce these testimonies of Jewish life and history to new viewers. After the exhibitions in the JHI and in thePodlasie Opera and Philharmonic in Bialystok, the Archive will be shown in a special place — the Old Synagogue in Sarajevo, the oldest temple in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital. Before the Second World War it was the most important cultural and religious center for Sephardi Jews in the Balkans.
The “…I bury and plant manuscripts…” exhibition is the result of cooperation between the Jewish Historical Institute, the Polish Embassy in Sarajevo and the Jewish Community in Sarajevo.
