In February, 2012, the JHI held the first retrospective exhibition of Julia Pirotte’s work. The exhibition „Faces and Hands” showed a few dozen works of this eminent photographer taken in 1940s and 50s in Marseille, Śródborów, Otwock and also in 1948 in Wrocław during the Congress of Intellectuals. The photos shown at that time came from the collection that the artist donated later, a year before her death, to the Jewish Historical Institute. The artist’s works were exhibited in 2013 during the Month of Photography in Bratislava. The exposition was organized in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Bratislava. The fruit of this collaboration was an exhibition organized this November in Slovak Technical Museum where it is possible to see 33 photographs by the artist.
Exhibition dedicated to Julia Pirotte’s work in Košice is the fruit of cooperation of the Jewish Historical Institute with other cultural institutions. Part of the activity of the JHI’s Museum is preparing and renting exhibitions to all those who wish to familiarize their visitors with Jewish history and culture.
