A meeting dedicated to the subject of the Holocaust in Polish lessons in the years 1947–1991. Even though it is impossible to reconstruct teaching practices, the analysis will be based on the list of obligatory literature, curricula, methodology books, lesson plans, text books as well as monographs, critical texts and reviews published in opinion-forming magazines. In 1947 — first turning point — in the syllabus appear Seweryna Szmaglewska’s „Dymy nad Birkenau” (Smoke over Birkenau). However, the last turning point — the year 1991 — was defined by including Hanna Krall’s „Shielding the Flame” into obligatory literature.
