The appeal of the Jewish Fighting Organization requesting hiding Jews in Warsaw to take part in the Warsaw Uprising was already drawn up three days after the outbreak. It was signed by „Antek”: the commander of the Jewish Fighting Organization Yitzhak Zuckerman. However, it was published on August 11 in, related with the Polish Socialist Party, newspaper „Varsovia”. Many Jews were already fighting in the insurgents’ ranks. There was also an independent platoon of the Jewish Fighting Organization, officially forming part of the People’s Army. Most Jewish fighters who managed to survive the uprising in the ghetto died several months later fighting for freedom of Warsaw.
