1942, Today, Mom brought from work the leaves of radish, which recently have become very popular in the ghetto as a product for cooking. In the street, they cost 3 Rm [Reichsmark] for a kg. The soup was quite ok. However, I doubt its nutritional value. I am so weak that straight after work I go to bed and fall asleep, which has never happened to me before. I don’t read at all. [...] The Germans are moving forward.
