From tomorrow, private sale of wood, mainly coming from theft of fences, toilets, and other wooden objects in the ghetto which the Council has not yet have the time to tear down, will not be allowed anymore.[...] It is not known what will now happen as there have not been any ration of coal for months and Rumkowski gave us wood for the last time at the beginning of February. So, once again we will have to do only with one soup a day from the kitchen we have registered at, and even though there are potatoes, vegetables and kasha, we will not have anything to boil it on. By hook or by crook! The inevitability of death from starvation is becoming more and more visible.
