Kantor, Szapocznikow, Sasnal and Libera — these great artists are among many others of the older and younger generations whom we will have a chance to see at the exhibition ‘Polish Art and the Holocaust.’
The exhibition will present the works not only by the artists who experienced the war and the Holocaust themselves, such as Tadeusz Kantor, Andrzej Wróblewski, Alina Szapocznikow, Artur Nacht-Samborski, but also by those who after the war had to deal with the painful, unassimilated memory of the Holocaust. The works by the artists of the older generation will be juxtaposed with the artifacts by artists of the younger generation, among others, Mirosław Bałka, Zbigniew Libera, Wilhelm Sasnal, bringing up the subject of the memory of the Holocaust at the times when the last witnesses are passing away. In addition, projects and photograms of the best architectural works and monuments commemorating the Holocaust will be presented.
Location: the Jewish Historical Institute (Tłomackie Street 3/5)
