On 10th December at the Jewish Historical Institute, we opened the exhibition Rav. Rabbi. Rebbe. Rabbis in Poland; the vernissage was preceded by lighting of Hanukkah candles. Rabbis became known in Polish history and culture as commentators and active participants of these domains. At the exhibition, we are showing not only religious, but also social, economic, charitable, and political involvement of the rabbis in current events. Apart from the portraits of the rabbis, you can also see a tallit, tefillin, the crown of Torah and a decorative cane of a tzaddik.
The curator of the exhibition is Teresa Śmiechowska and the author of visual concept is Maciej Marcioch. The vernissage was participated by: Małgorzata Omilanowska — Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Stas Wojciechowicz and MP Grzegorz Napieralski. About the exhibition talked members of staff of the Jewish Historical Institute, dr Rafał Żebrowski and dr Jan Doktór, who, with academics from the Warsaw Research Group, had prepared the catalogue of the exhibition.
